About Microbiology of Agroforestry Ecosystems<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The research of the group is focused on obtaining basic and applied knowledge about beneficial interactions between plants and microorganisms of interest in agricultural and forestry systems. That is to say, those microorganisms that promote plant growth, protect them against pathogens, provide nutrients to plants, etc. Therefore, the study of the plant microbiome, both external to the root and endophytic, constitutes the core on which the research we do is based by approaches of high-throughput sequencing. Our work on root microbiome, considering the pool plant-microbiome as a holobiont<\/strong>, covers both agriculture, like our research on the role of olive root microbiome on verticilosis tolerance\/sensitivity; and environmental, like the research on the role of root microbiome on holm-oak recovery after a wildfire or the resilience of pines and melojo oak to climate change. Our final objective is to contribute to the maintenance of natural and agroforestry ecosystems by the management of its associated microbiomes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sobre Microbiolog\u00eda de Ecosistemas Agroforestales<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

El grupo tradicionalmente ha trabajado en las interacciones beneficiosas entre plantas y microorganismos del suelo. Es decir, aquellos microorganismos que promueven el crecimiento vegetal, que protegen frente a pat\u00f3genos, que aportan nutrientes a la planta, etc. tanto en sistemas agr\u00edcolas como forestales. Con el desarrollo de las t\u00e9cnicas de secuenciaci\u00f3n masiva, las aproximaciones que desarrollamos son hol\u00edsticas pasando a estudiar metagenomas y microbiomas; y a considerar el conjunto planta-microbioma como un holobionte<\/strong>. Nuestro trabajo con la ra\u00edz de \u00e1rboles tiene tanto una parte agraria, ya que investigamos el papel que juega el microbioma radicular del olivo en la sensibilidad\/tolerancia a la verticilosis; como medioambiental al investigar el papel del microbioma en la recuperaci\u00f3n de encinares tras un incendio forestal o en la resiliencia de roble melojo y de pinares frente al cambio clim\u00e1tico. El objetivo final es contribuir al mantenimiento de los ecosistemas naturales y agroforestales mediante el manejo de sus microbiomas asociados<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/section>\n\n\n\n
