Research

During the last years, we have been involved in several research projects and colaborating with other research groups, national and international, in order to understand how beneficial soil microorganisms help plants to face natural enemies, as well as to understand and improve symbiosis establishment.

Our research is mainly based on the effect of AM symbiosis in plant defense responses and its impact on plant resistance (MIR). We are interested in the mechanisms by which beneficial soil microorganisms, and especially arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi, to prime defense responses, making them more resistant/tolerant to pests and diseases.

We are interested in the molecular mechanisms and hormonal signalling pathways involved in plant defense responses, and in the signalling and molecular mechanisms that regulate AM symbiosis establishment.
