De hecho, la biodiversidad del suelo es la fuerza que mantiene los ciclos biog\u00e9nicos. Existe un gran inter\u00e9s por el uso de microorganismos beneficiosos del suelo para una agricultura sostenible y equilibrada. Entre ellos, los hongos micorr\u00edcicos arbusculares (MA) presentan un gran potencial como biofertilizantes y agentes de bioprotecci\u00f3n. Estos hongos establecen simbiosis mutualistas con la mayor\u00eda de las plantas, incluyendo cultivos de inter\u00e9s agr\u00edcola como el tomate, aportando grandes beneficios en nutrici\u00f3n y salud. Por tanto, el uso de hongos MA en agricultura ayudar\u00e1 a reducir el uso de fertilizantes y pesticidas qu\u00edmicos protegiendo as\u00ed nuestros suelos, al mismo tiempo que se aumenta la resiliencia de los cultivos frente a diversos tipos de estreses y la producci\u00f3n. Sin embargo, a pesar de su gran potencial, el uso de inoculantes micorr\u00edcicos en agricultura sigue siendo un reto debido a la variabilidad de los resultados en campo. Esta variabilidad reside en la calidad y efectividad de los inoculantes, las condiciones ambientales y al manejo de los cultivos, fundamentalmente la fertilizaci\u00f3n con f\u00f3sforo, el cual afecta negativamente al establecimiento de la simbiosis. \u00c9sta requiere de un alto grado de comunicaci\u00f3n entre la planta hospedadora y el hongo, el cual est\u00e1 basado en la producci\u00f3n y exudaci\u00f3n de se\u00f1ales moleculares (estrigolactonas, factores Myc y metabolitos a\u00fan desconocidos) a la rizosfera. Un mayor conocimiento de los mecanismos moleculares involucrados en el establecimiento de esta simbiosis beneficiosa es esencial para el desarrollo y dise\u00f1o de nuevos inoculantes microbianos m\u00e1s eficientes. Esta propuesta se basa en la hip\u00f3tesis de que se puede mejorar el establecimiento de la simbiosis mediante la mejora de la comunicaci\u00f3n qu\u00edmica planta-hongo MA, mejorando as\u00ed las propiedades biofertilizantes y bioprotectoras de los inoculantes comerciales. Indeed, soil biodiversity is the force that maintains nature\u2019s biogenic cycles. There is an increasing interest in the use of soil beneficial microbes in sustainable and balanced agriculture. Among these microbes, the widespread arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi have a great potential as biofertilizers and bioprotection agents. They establish mutualistic symbiosis with the majority of plants, including most agricultural crops, providing enormous benefits to plant nutrition, fitness and crop production. Thus, the use of AM fungi can help to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in agriculture, while protecting our soils. However, despite their wide potential the use of mycorrhizal inoculants in agriculture is still challenging because of the variability of the results when applied to the fields. This variability relies in the quality and effectivity of the inoculants, the environmental conditions, and crop management strategies, mainly Pi fertilization, which negatively impact symbiosis establishment. The symbiosis requires a high degree of coordination between the plant and fungal partners, which relies on the production and exudation by both organisms of molecular signals into the rhizosphere. A better understanding of the molecular mechanisms regulating the establishment of the association is crucial for the development and design of new and more efficient microbial-based inoculants. This proposal is based on the hypothesis that AM symbiosis establishment can be promoted by improving plant-AM fungus signalling, and thus the biostimulant properties of commercial mycorrhizal inoculants.
